'Yipee!' Esther shouted as we came back, and promptly took the green teddy away and popped it in her bed along with the others. She has quite a collection now, we get one every time we visit A&E with Reuben, he doesn't particularly like the teddies, they remind him of the hospital but Esther is more than happy with her collection.
So yesterday we were there again. Because of the combination of a heavy cast around his body and a neurological condition that prevents his brain thinking fast enough to put his hands out if he falls, when Reuben does fall it's fast, heavy and straight onto his head, this time cutting a nice slice into his forehead which bled fast enough for me to get him into the car without a second thought and drive him to A&E with his big brother holding a compress to his head as I drove. We arrived with him and was taken to cubicles straight away where he had his head glued back together, some information passed to us on leaflets and promptly discharged within 45 minutes. Quite good going!
Today he's a bit wobbly on his feet but still has an appetite and seems to still be himself so we're happy.
Here he is, brave little man tucking into his pudding after lunch today :)
My daughter Chloe's cast makes her really top heavy so she just topples straight backwards like a falling tree and cracks the back of her head on the floor. She's lost a lot of confidence with standing because of this and will only walk if she's holding someone's hands.
ReplyDeleteaww it's not nice watching them struggle is it, has she been given a walking frame to help? We have one but Reuben has decided he wants to be independent and not use it - very frustrating! x
