Back in the Frame

Well we thought we'd got rid of the walking aids now that Reuben can walk by himself but under physiotherapists instructions he has to continue to use the frame when he's not in the house. This is for a couple of reasons, he's still a little wobbly and top heavy due to the cast; the slightest knock or bit of wind sends him off balance and because of the condition with his hands he is unable to put them out to stop him falling so hard and as a result ends up falling straight on his head or his nose and has had lots of nosebleeds and bumps to the head recently. Having the frame indicates to other children too not to run around so close to him and it acts as a barrier so hopefully there won't be too many more trips to A&E due to being knocked over! Reuben doesn't mind, he can go a lot quicker in his frame and can zoom about quite happily!
We're still waiting to hear from the hospital about the problem with the anaesthetists and when he can have his cast changed as it is getting very tight, especially on the collar bone. He may have to go to have it cut open at the front slightly to ease some pressure while he's waiting, but hopefully it won't be too long.
He enjoyed going to see the scarecrow festival yesterday with Esther there were lots of amazing scarecrows we couldn't believe how much effort some people had gone to to create their masterpieces, apart from the one who put an empty chair with a pair of shoes and a hat for the invisible scarecrow that's cheating! :o)
