March 2010

Reuben was still being sick so a referral was made from the GP to see a paediatrician, Dr Dharmaraj at Royal Preston Hospital.

6 weeks later Reuben saw the paediatrician who prescribed Ranitidine and Domperidone for reflux. After many different trials of measurements of  the medicines it still wasn't working and he was still being sick all the time.

The health visitor decided that it was the muscle at the top of Reuben's stomach which was too floppy and couldn't keep any food inside and we were told that it would strengthen eventually once he started to sit up etc. We were also advised to wean at 10 weeks onto solids as thicker foods might stay in his stomach better. After keeping a food diary for a few weeks it became apparent that dairy foods were contributing to making him more sick so we cut out dairy from his and my diet, as dairy passed through the breastmilk. This did make a bit of a difference.
We were referred to see a dietician who gave us advice on a dairy free diet.
On 3rd september we saw the paediatrician again about his sickness and weight. He gave him a top to toe examination and arranged to see us in 6 months.
