Today as Reuben was sat in the bath I noticed that there seemed to be something odd with the symmetry of his spine. His ribs bulged out at the right and his shoulders were uneven. I thought I was being a neurotic Mum finding other things wrong with him all the time, and he had been seen by the paediatrician just yesterday who gave him a complete examination so I thought I was perhaps making it up but I felt uneasy about it so mentioned it to the health visitor the next day at clinic. She said immediately that he had a noticable curvature of the spine and to see the GP straight away so the next morning we saw the doctor who diagnosed infantile scoliosis and to go back to the paediatrician again.
I rang the paediatrician's secretary who said he had an appointment in 6 months, come back then but I had to insist he was seen sooner and the best they could do was another 6 weeks which was then postponed again.
Reuben saw the paediatrician and had x-rays taken and blood tests done and also was referred to see a neurologist and to have an mri scan done.
It was also discovered at this appointment that Reuben had bilateral undescended testes and if he still had them at 18 months he would be referred to see a surgeon.
These photos show Reuben's spine before any treatment. (and a cheeky one of him playing peek a boo in the box!)
